Manufacturer : Boeing
Facts : Boeing 737 series is the most successful airliner ever made. With 6300+ delivered and 2000+ still in order, Boeing 737 series is the best selling airliner in history. There is a 737 taking off or landing every five seconds somewhere in the world. This Boeing 737 series are so popular that chance is high that you too have been on one before.

There are many version of Boeing 737 such as :
First generation :
Boeing 737-100; the first design of 737, entered service in 1969 as 100 passengers short range airliner. Back then, 737-100 designed to compete with DC-9 and BAC-111. Compared to its competitor, 737-100 has six abreast seats rather than five.
Boeing 737-200; stretched version of 737-100 with capacity of 115 passengers. This 737-200 then way exceeded the 100 version on sales amount.

Second generation :
Boeing 737-300; entered service in 1984, this 737-300 is the second generation of 737 family that comes with stretched 737-400 and shortened 737-500. Boeing 737-300 has new more efficient CFM turbofan engine and capacity of 141 passengers. Later on, this 737-300/400/500 version got in close competition with Airbus A320 series which have more advanced technologies, more performance and range. But despite of the close competition, Boeing 737-300/400/500 series still held the title of best selling airliners.
Boeing 737-400; a stretched version of 300 version with maximum capacity of 188 passengers. Some version of this 737-400 also featured longer range.
Boeing 737-500; a shortened version of 737-300. With capacity of 100 passengers, 737-500 is a direct replacement for 737-200.
